UNPAINTED. THOUGHTS ON PAINTING IN THE POST-TECHNOLOGICAL AGE.

Lecture-round table. Sunday 8 May 2011 at 5.00 p.m.

The art historians GIUSEPPE CARRUBBA and SANDRA SOLIMANO, former director of Villa Croce Museum of Contemporary Art in Genoa, are the lecturers.

The moderator of the evening is the journalist ANNA MAZZUCCO.

The title of this lecture-round table is UNPAINTED. THOUGHTS ON PAINTING IN THE POST-TECHNOLOGICAL AGE, whose topic relates in particular to the going back to contemporary pictorial expression among the young generation. Maybe the public too, after so much avant-garde linked with the age of conceptual ideologies, feels the need to go back to figuration within a society artistically liquid. It is suitable, in consideration of the parallels you find in other branches of art, like for instance a certain narration as far as the video is concerned, to concentrate on this specific medium (painting) in particular.

The current show at CACT, UNPAINTED, of the artist Francesca Guffanti is the pretext to put up a discussion around painting related to contemporary artistic production, where the aesthetics given by technology is quite dominant within the young generations.

At the end of the lecture supplied by a slide-show, an outdoor catering follows.
