Ladies and Gentlemen,
Dear Friends and Supporters of the MACT/CACT,
With the last exhibition in the 2019 season, HSHUMA, curated by Sharon Toval, we are as usual opening the membership campaign for the coming year, 2020.
One of the new features with close ties to the Friends of MACT/CACT card is the presence in the partnership between art institutions of not just one, but two new museums: the Kunstmuseum Thurgau and the Ittinger Museum, both directed by Markus Landert and housed in the Charterhouse of Ittingen, a deconsecrated monastery in an idyllic setting bathed in the past. For us, this new partner constitutes the possibility to create and improve the itinerary of art locations that starts in Bellinzona, with the MACT/CACT and Villa dei Cedri, passes through Canton Grisons (the Bündner Kunstmuseum in Chur) and ultimately arrives in Canton Thurgau.
In the course of 2020, meanwhile, the MACT/CACT itself will once again be the subject of works to improve its exhibition spaces, following the construction last year of the Library, which generated such an interest in both private individuals and the general public, enabling us to accept numerous donations of publications (see the Sponsor section in our website) and to develop a new and futuristic project in the framework of spaces functional to the Museum.
The programme that the MACT/CACT intends to propose for the 2020 season will feature exhibitions that analyse art from a more historical and analytical standpoint, with regard to the themes, and others that will once again be projected towards new generations of artists and towards the area of the art of research.
In a Ticino that is changing, the MACT/CACT is also keeping up with the momentum, both as a centre for experimentation and as a museum: in the future, our museum will be focusing extensively on analysing the mapping of the museums that exist within a given geographical territory. In parallel with new trends, our collections will also be growing richer in history, in this epoch-making time when it is not always knowledge and wisdom that prevail.
In the hope that we shall be able to count on having you among our meritorious Supporters once again in 2020, please accept our very warmest wishes.
Mario Casanova, dir.
