One person died. Ephemeral monument.

100 years have gone. 1.5 million Armenians have perished. 100 years of denial, despite the international historical facts and the Ottoman archivesʼ records.
2015 is the centennial of the Armenian Genocide. Armenians of Armenia, as well as the Armenians of the Diaspora are commemorating the loss of their ancestors that also changed the destiny of the generations of Armenians, dispersing them throughout the world.
As an artist of Armenian descent the Genocide has been part of my DNA. My contribution to the centenary is an ephemeral monument that recounts each and every victim of the Armenian Genocide, one person at a time. I would like to project this work one night at a time, hopefully 100 times, in different places. I ask to grant one evening and one wall – in the exterior or interior of an institution – to project “One person died”, my tribute to the 1.5 million Armenians perished during the first genocide of the 20th century.
“One person died” is an evolutive moving image. The phrase “one person died” repeats itself while a counter recounts the number of the repetition. Once the number reaches 1.5 million, it starts again.
